COMMUNITY TOURISM
San Clemente indigenous community is located next to the Imbabura Volcano (1.5 hour drive from Quito). Visiting this community will allow you to be part of an Indian family from Caranqui. You will be able to learn about their traditional food, costumes, handicrafts, music, dance, and more.
You will stay in the houses of the community families as a regular family member. Each house can accommodate up to four passengers. Accommodation includes: twin beds in independent bedrooms, hot showers heated by solar heaters, towels, soap and shampoo.
You will get up at the break of dawn; you will prepare your own local special bread and have breakfast with the community families. Lunch includes entreé, soup, main dish, dessert and juice, all made with the daily harvest products. They will also teach you their ancestral weaving techniques. During the afternoon break, you will socialize with the head of the family.
Prices: $120 per two people, per night, doble room.
TOTAL PRICE INCLUDES:
Tour Otavalo (1, 2 until 8 days tour) with accommodation in San Clemente, meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast with juice), daily activities with the community.
PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE:
Entrance fee, meals not mentioned, personal expenses, additional beverages, daily excursion, native tri-lingual guide (general activities), English-speaking guide (available the whole time), private transportation, horses, tips.
- Visit to the medicinal plant and organic crop path.
- Visit to the Imbabura archeological complex. (on site)
- Visit to the Lita where you can observe butterflies, birds and local rain forest.
- Visit to the Voladero del Angel lagoons
- Special performance at night by the entire community's dancers and musicians
If your stay lasts longer than four days, you will be moved to the Piñan Community located 1.5 hours on horse back ride from San Clemente.
